With the LS9, IM Motors takes the concept of the ‘lifestyle SUV’ to the extreme: at the rear, a real shower kit is now available for the brand’s most luxurious car. It’s a 10-liter clean water tank, heated to 45°C, integrated into the vehicle. Enough to go from returning from a sandy beach to ‘presentable’ in a matter of minutes, even in the middle of nowhere.

Compared to the classic portable showers found in recreational vehicles – a 12V shower head that you dip into a jerry can, plug into the cigarette lighter, storage bag and approximate splash management – the LS9’s setup is on a whole new level. There’s a dedicated compartment in the boot to ensure it stays in place in a crash, an integrated hot water circuit, and a shower curtain kit that attaches directly to the tailgate, similar to the high-end magnetic curtains already familiar in van life, but commercialized and packaged by the automaker..

The 10-liter capacity makes this more of an express-rinse than a portable spa. But combined with the heated floor in the same range of accessories, the set transforms the LS9 into a very high-end base camp, designed from the outset of the project based on interviews with outdoor ‘key opinion leaders’ and then co-developed with camping equipment manufacturers. These accessory manufacturers usually sell technical components to be integrated, but IM offers a complete, secure, curated solution perfectly aligned with the techno-luxury positioning of this, their top-of-the-line vehicle.
