TactoTek has signed a license agreement with Global Technology Ventures (GTV) to expand IMSE® (in-mold structural electronics) production capacity in North America.
IMSE lets interior parts do double or triple duty: by integrating electronics into structural molded components, trim parts can be created that look like a single elegant surface but behave like a multi-function system: lighting, sensing, controls, and branding cues living inside one part. The engineering challenges are significant, because it involves fusing decorative films, printed electronics, and injection molding into a single validated manufacturing process to turn out parts which must survive automotive life.
The GTV partnership is not just a tech-footprint expansion, it’s ecosystem acceleration. North American programs often demand local production strategies, resilient supply chains, and partners who can sit in the same rooms as the OEM and Tier-1 engineering teams when late-stage changes are required. The licensing model suggests a pragmatic route: TactoTek scales their technology through regional industrial partners while keeping the core IP and process expertise structured for repeatability.
