The Dacia Hipster concept has just been revealed in Paris. The makers call it a bold reimagination of the ‘people’s car’ for an electric future.
For a car costing just €15K, and 3 metres long, the lighting setup is intriguing: it’s a full-LED system with a biLED high/low beam module, and pixelated DRL with super simple optical system (likely with high efficiency).
For the rear lamps, Dacia propose a PCB with LEDs on – without any optical system, bezel, or outer lens. The vehicle’s backglass protects the lamp when the tailgate is closed.

The concept is really interesting. Will they go to mass market like this? What about ESD or other possible contamination? If they find a solution, that could really be a game changer for lamp simplification.
