Philips organised last Friday a very emotional farewell of Ralf Schäfer, the most famous expert on HID light sources. A big part of the lighting community
was present: W.Huhn (Audi), J.Kaelble (BMW), M.Hamm (AL), R.Neumann (Visteon), Theo Dorissen (Hella), G.Draper (GTB President), with many others and the main lighting players of Philips: D.Plancke and H.de Jong (actual and former CEO), J.Peek, L.Metzemaekers, P.Popis, D.Jallade, V.Ranic.
Michael Hamm built a high tech panel representing the work of Ralf on the light sources and Wolfgang Huhn presented the main success of Ralf.

Ralf has done a wonderful job not only on HID but also on halogen particularly on Philips’ new HIR bulb and also on LEDs. An expert such as Ralf has to stay in the lighting business consulting for the lighting companies when they need his considerable expertise.
