Osram’s Automotive Lighting division and Osram Opto Semiconductors have jointly developed the JOULE JFL2 LED modular fog lamp. The JFLCF2 modules, a version of the JFL2, are
available in series production since November 2009. As they already include lenses and meet the stringent requirements of the new fog lamp photometry (ECE R19 F3), they can be integrated into fog lights as easily and inexpensively as mount and housing solutions can be built. This is the first LED fog lamp complying with ECE R19 F3 in Japan.
With just 14 watts’ input per fog lamp, the LED module is considerably more efficient than even a low-wattage halogen fog lamp using a 35w H8 bulb. The low wattage also alleviates any extra strain on the vehicle’s generator, contributing to the car’s overall energy efficiency. The fog lamps can be customized with heat sinks or assembly fixtures and offer customers the possibility of adjusting the design to their needs.
Osram high efficiency LED modules are receiving world-wide acknowledgement and inclusion with Japan as the latest market to accept the JOULE product for fog lighting applications. Mitsubishi Motors recently agreed to offer the Osram JOULE JFLCF2 LED module in the 2011 Mitsubishi RVR compact crossover vehicle. Other Osram Joule LED modules are specialised for use in other lighting functions such as dipped and main beams, braking, turn signal and reverse lights. The high-performance diodes consume far less energy than conventional car and motorcycle lamps and can be included in new, platform-independent vehicle models.
