SAIC’s Z7 – one of the five brands powered by Huawei and assembled by SAIC – has just been revealed and is a pure copy of the Porsche Taycan’s exterior design, including the lamps.

BYD have just revealed their new Seal 08 with a design really not far from a Nio with similar front lamp design; the rear lamp design is different, with a lit BYD logo integrated into the lamp.

Everybody wants to copy Chinese development speed. If you remove creativity and just make copies, well, yeah, you can be faster. In China, it seems there are many copycats. Aside from the consumer-perceptible effects of ‘China speed’ on driving dynamics and operational pleasantness, are lookalike cars really what customers want? You want to differentiate with your neighbour. A car is not a phone, you keep it for a longer time.
