Osbra, a plastics specialist and automotive supplier from Bad Wörishofen, have bought Holzkirchen-based lighting system developer Lightworks, with effect from 3 February 2026.
Lightworks will retain their name and brand identity as a 100-per-cent subsidiary of Osbra. With this acquisition ‘Made in Bavaria’, Osbra are positioning themselves as a German full-service provider of plastic lighting system components in the automotive industry, and also for other key industries.
With the acquisition of Lightworks, Osbra are gaining a decisive advantage in international competition: More and more customers are demanding complete solutions in the field of lighting components and systems, wherein electronic lighting components are already integrated in the corresponding plastic components. This can be, for example, a complete headlamp, a reading light, an illuminated radiator grille, a rear spoiler with integrated brake light, or an intelligently-backlit decorative trim. Thanks to Lightworks’ passion for light, engineering expertise, and versatile lighting portfolio, Osbra are now one of the first medium-sized companies in the industry to offer the development, production, testing, and homologation of complex plastic light components from a single source.
“With the acquisition of Lightworks, we are creating a company that does not exist on the market before: a specialist in plastic components with integrated, intelligent lighting systems,” says Siegfried Richter, Managing Director of Osbra. “We combine competencies for the benefit of our customers. We will implement development projects even faster, more efficiently and in a more cost-optimized manner. We also show that German SMEs can be agile, competitive, efficient and creative. Together we are stronger – with development excellence, Made in Bavaria.”
