According to the Mercedes communication team, “The latest evolution of the SClass delivers its most extensive update in one generation, taking a leading role in the most ambitious product launch programme in MercedesBenz history. With more than 50 per cent of the SClass – around 2,700 components – newly developed or re-engineered, it reaffirms a legacy of aspiration, engineering and digital ambition, and progress”.
Let’s have a look into the lamp details!
Because it is not a full EV like the GLC EV or CLA EV, Mercedes have designed a contour-illuminated grille rather than a fully-illuminated one.

An illuminated 3D logo – a first at Mercedes – is on the hood in some markets. ECU and electrical connection details can be seen in the video below (to place the video here)
The new S-Class has New Digital Light with microLED technology, already seen on the new GLC.

Dynamic Ultra Range high beam – with a reach of up to 600 metres – now swivels for optimal coverage, while its partial high-beam function improves detection of poorly lit road users without dazzling others. Combined with camera data and map intelligence, cornering light adapts more precisely to road layouts – all powered by in-house software integrated into the MercedesBenz Operating System (MB.OS) for faster adaptation.

Digital light now offers projections, included in a Digital Extras package as mentioned in the Mercedes media kit:
“To use the Digital Extras, you must create a Mercedes me ID and agree to the Terms of Use for Digital Extras and the Mercedes me ID Service Terms in their applicable versions. In addition, the respective vehicle must be linked to the user account. After the limited term expires, the Digital Extras can be extended for a fee, provided they are still offered for the corresponding vehicle.”

According to the official information, and as later confirmed by Mercedes, the S-Class is equipped with ADB in the USA:

At the rear, new taillights with three chrome-framed signature stars reinforce the SClass identity, ensuring a lasting impression:

An integrated light projector in the side sill trim casts a MercedesBenz callout as a lighting scheme next to the car – MLA technology, I suppose, to have this accuracy (but I may be wrong, a Gobo system is perhaps accurate enough).
