The auto data firm based in Southfield, Michigan calcu¬lates that the median age for light trucks increased from 7.1 years to 7.5 last year — a 15% increase since 2003.
Polk says the scrappage rate for light trucks rose to 6.4% last year from 4.9% in 2007 and a low of 4.1% in 2005. The scrap rate for cars, which was 9.5% in 1970, fell to 5.1% last year from 5.5% in 2007.
