Koito’s President, Masahiro Ohtake, says production space will be cut by half at the Haibara factory close to Nagoya. Of the three buildings, one has already been vacated. A half of the next one will be so soon. In the mid-term, Koito’s main works at Shizuoka will undergo drastic reforms .
Japan’s automotive production will never exceed 10 million per year and may be less than 6 million in the worst case; Koito’s capacity will be reduced to 5 million.
