Days ago, Smart Eye announced two more design wins for their DMS (driver monitoring system) software with an existing European truck customer. The program was secured together with a global tier-1 supplier, covers two new truck models, and is scheduled to enter production in 2028. The truck manufacturer has not been named.
This is not a first trial program, but a scope extension at an OEM already using Smart Eye’s DMS software across several vehicle programs. Smart Eye now has 372 design wins from 24 OEMs, with a combined estimated lifetime value above USD ~$946m.
The wording of the release also suggests this latest nomination continues the truck-related momentum seen in December 2025, when Smart Eye announced two additional truck models at a European manufacturer under a very similar setup: a global tier-1 partner, Q1 2028 start of production, and the same estimated value.
The announcement also lands in a broader regulatory and product context. EU Regulation 2019/2144 established driver drowsiness, attention and distraction warning as part of the advanced vehicle safety framework, with 7 July 2026 marking a key implementation milestone for advanced driver distraction warning on affected vehicle categories. At the product level, Volvo Trucks has already upgraded their Driver Alert Support to a two-camera architecture with eye tracking, and says the system meets the GSR2 regulatory upstep taking effect in July 2026.
