On October 30th, At Japan Mobility 2025, Toyota Boshoku held a press conference a their booth; President and CEO Masayoshi Shirayanagi spoke, and here are his words:
“As a company that creates the future of mobility that inspires customers around the world, our business areas are mobility, where we handle seats and interior parts, which are the products closest to the user in the mobility world, and unit parts, where we handle filter products, motor cores, and other electrification products. Utilizing a global network of 90 locations in 23 countries and regions, we conduct business with a variety of customers both in Japan and overseas, including Toyota Motor Corporation. Our sales target for fiscal year 2024 is approximately ¥1.9tn, and for fiscal year 2030 we have set a target of ¥2.2tn.

Looking at the automotive industry, with the advancement of CASE and MaaS, the interior space of a vehicle is evolving from a place of movement to a place that creates experiential value, and new value that combines comfort and emotion is expected. As we look towards 2030, we are leveraging our three strengths – human resource development, manufacturing, and technological development – to realize comfortable moving spaces as an interior space creator, and are promoting activities with the aim of becoming a company that contributes to solving social issues while expanding the range of products and customers.
The theme of our exhibition this time at JMS2025 is “Finest Quality of Time and Space for You.” We would like to introduce you to a special time and space that is just for you, and we would like to deliver it to each and every one of you.
First, let me introduce our main product, seats. We place great importance on human-centered design and develop seats that meet the diverse needs of a wide range of vehicle models, from compact cars to luxury cars.

The seats in the Lexus LX shown here utilize control technology to provide a comfortable and welcoming travel space, even on long journeys over rough roads. Until now, we have developed seat interiors as a system supplier, and unit components as a parts manufacturer, developing individual products. Going forward, we will reflect the technologies that should be internalized in our product roadmap for interior space creators, and work to be able to plan and propose entire moving spaces, including controls and software.

At the IC Thirty Integrated Cabin 2030 exhibit, we will introduce future products and technologies that will create a safe, secure, and comfortable travel space. As visualization becomes more diverse and the value of the in-car experience becomes more important, we will introduce Relax & Safety Seats that take into consideration various seating positions and allow for a safe, secure, and comfortable travel experience, as well as in-car illumination that creates a comfortable space with lighting that suits the user’s mood. These devices will be linked together to control the entire space.

Additionally, in response to multipathing, we are actively working on everything from elemental technologies to commercialization in the fields of motor cores, fuel cells, and lithium-ion batteries. By linking and integrating these products, we will expand the value we provide and realize not just a means of transportation, but a space that people can spend time in comfortably. The Intellia-Space-Creator, we aim to be is a concept that expresses our desire to contribute to solving social issues by providing high-quality time and space for all people and all forms of mobility.
The Wellboyers Seat on display is an aircraft seat that combines an aircraft seat with a wheelchair for in-flight movement. When wheelchair users board an aircraft, they must first transfer to the in-flight wheelchair and then transfer to their seat, which can be a significant burden. With the desire to reduce the burden on users and caregivers and make travel more enjoyable, we are currently working with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) to conduct research and development into universal design for “air travel.” Well Voyage seats can be removed one by one from the aircraft seat frame. The removed seats are equipped with wheels, so they can move not only forward and backward, but also sideways, allowing passengers to move around while remaining seated. These innovations minimize the need to transfer and reduce the burden on wheelchair users and their caregivers. Furthermore, the seat can be moved to the window side and secured in place while remaining seated, allowing wheelchair users to enjoy the view outside the window, something that was previously difficult to do, for a more comfortable flight.

In addition, the “Proxime City” experience seat allows you to enjoy a unique travel experience by linking the seat vibrations with the cityscape in a virtual world. It utilizes “Plato,” a 3D city model of Japan run by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. We hope you will enjoy this extraordinary space.
Additionally, in collaboration with fashion brand Takeo Kikuchi and Toyota Motor Corporation, we have produced apparel items that utilize materials and decorative techniques from automobile interiors. These items are on display, so please come and take a look. Mr. Takeo Kikuchi is also with us today.
Finally, Toyota Boshoku will continue to take on new challenges, aiming to remain an indispensable company that can provide moving spaces that inspire customers around the world. Thank you very much.
