Porsche has come up with something new for the cockpit of the electric Cayenne. The touchscreen is folded, dividing the surface into an upper display area and a lower operating area. Porsche calls the whole thing the Flow Display.
Underneath is a pad on which you can rest your right hand; Porsche calls it the ‘Ferry Pad’, and it’s meant to make the keyboard easy to operate with the supported hand, for example when entering the navigation destination.
On account of the fold in the screen, Porsche has not specified a size for the Flow Display. There is also a 14.25-inch display for the instruments, a HUD as in the Macan, and an optional 14.9-inch passenger display.
As in the Macan, the Cayenne runs an operating system based on Android Auto. Porsche also highlights the configurable widgets and personal settings: Some settings always have to be reset at system startup, but individual preferences can be reactivated with just two clicks.
The voice control also answers complicated queries like, “I would like to eat in an Italian restaurant with vegetarian dishes and a good internet rating”. The system can also help with questions about vehicle operation.
The glass has a surface area of two square meters. The electrochromic glass can be switched from transparent to translucent at the touch of a button, for the entire surface or just partially. The ‘Semi’ setting switches 40 per cent of the surface; the ‘Bold’ setting switches 60 per cent. The front part can be opened as a sunroof.
The rear seats are electrically adjustable as standard; the backrest angle can be adjusted, and the seats can be moved 15 cm fore and aft.
The trunk has a capacity of 553 to 1,588 liters. The rear seats can be folded down in a 40:20:40 ratio. This can also be done electrically from the trunk at the touch of a button.
