Zuo Si Automotive Research have just released their “2025 China Automotive Lighting and Ambient Light System Research Report”. It says 755,000 autonomous driving status (“AD-S”) lights were fitted in the first half of 2025. That’s an installation rate of 7.1 per cent, for a year-on-year growth of 1,098 per cent.
More and more car manufacturers are putting AD-S lights on their cars, even though Chinese regulations haven’t yet been finalized. In the first half of 2025, the installation rate of BYD’s light hit 65.4 per cent, with several models including the Qin L, Song Plus New Energy, Seal 06 DM-i, Sea Lion 05 EV, and Dolphin already equipped.
New brands such as Li Auto, Xiaomi, Aito, Luxeed, Zeekr, Lynk & Co, Xpeng, Nio, Deepal, Wenjie, and Fengchenbao are also putting the turquoise AD-S lights on their cars.
