Brazil is introducing a new regulation for automotive components including replacement light bulbs for cars.
From 21July 2014, Portaria n°301 takes effect. After that date, vehicle light sources can be imported to Brazil only if they are properly certified.
First they must be tested by an ILAC/EA/IAAC laboratory accredited to ISO 17025, and then comes a factory inspection. Finally there is a documentation review. Once a product meets all the requirements, an INMETRO certificate is issued for it. A followup audit is done every year, and full recertification is required every four years.
