Progress in MicroLED technology has been of keen interest lately. Researchers round the world have been generating patentable innovations to secure leading positions in the field.
The Korean Intellectual Property Office analysed patent applications related to MicroLED technology filed from 2000 to April 2018 globally, and found that more than 60% of the patent applications were filed by companies and institutes from the U.S., China and South Korea.
The report notes that U.S.-based filers were behind 525 patents in the MicroLED field, followed by China with 353 applications, and South Korea in third place with 243. Taiwan and Ireland came next with 140 and 91 applications, respectively.
