Training workshops on organic photovoltaic (OPV) and organic light emitting diode (OLED) technologies are to be held in September and November, respectively, in Dresden, Germany. These are being put on by Fraunhofer COMEDD as part of the COLAE (Commercialising Organic and Large Area Electronics) consortium.
The PV technologies workshop in September will impart theoretical and hands-on experience in design and fabrication of organic PV technologies. Topics to be covered during the 4-day course include types of OPV, materials and device structures, fabrication techniques, OPV characterisation, as well a practicum in fabricating and testing participants’ own OPV devices. The fabrication method to be focused on is evaporation of small-molecule materials.
The OLED workshop on lighting and display technologies in November is meant for participants to gain theoretical and hands on expertise in the operation and fabrication of OLEDs for lighting and display applications. Topics to be covered will include device architecture and materials, manufacturing processes, OLED performance, and OLED characterisation as well as practical experience in OLED fabrication.
Both workshops will take place on the premises of Fraunhofer COMEDD in Dresden, Germany. The PV workshop is 9-12 September, and the OLED workshop is 25-28 November. Each course will involve 1.5 days of teaching and 2.5 days’ hands-on training; the workshops will be in English.
