Audi may reach their goal of selling 1.5 million cars per year earlier than planned thanks to unceasing demand from China, America, and Russia. CEO Stadler said Audi are targeting double-digit growth in auto sales in China and the United States this year and expects European deliveries to at least match year-ago levels despite slowing economic growth in the home region.
Audi, expected to reach their target in 2015, boosted four-month deliveries 12% to 471,000 cars and SUVs. “The way things look at the moment, we may be able to reach this target earlier,” Rupert Stadler told the annual shareholder meeting in Ingolstadt, last week. Audi sold 1.3 million autos in 2011 and have pledged to outsell the global car market again in 2012, which they expect to expand by 4%.
Audi outsold luxury market leader BMW for the first time in over a year in April. They are competing to Mercedes-Benz, which they surpassed last year, to grab the luxury sales lead by the end of the decade.
Audi plan to increase the rollout of new or updated models to 18 this year from 12 in 2011, the CEO said, helping a goal to increase full-year deliveries and revenue.
