German lighting and electronics maker Hella have enquired about government-subsidised short-time work payments because of a potential production slowdown related to the earthquake in Japan, WirtschaftsWoche reported, citing unidentified people close to the company.
The supplier, whose customers include Volkswagen and Daimler AG, is concerned that automakers may halt assembly because of a lack of parts from Japan, the newspaper said. Hella don’t see a risk of its own supplies being restricted, WirtschaftsWoche reported.
