Hyundai Motor and their Chinese partner Beijing Automotive Industry Holding will break ground for their third manufacturing plant in September.
The new plant will be in the Beijing River Industrial Development Zone in Beijing’s Shunyi district. Hyundai have completed final negotiation with the Beijing municipal government, according to a senior officer in the company.
Beijing Hyundai Motor, a JV between Beijing Auto and Hyundai Motor, have two plants in Shunyi with total annual capacity of 600,000 units—a figure the third plant should boost by half to over 900,000.
In the first half of this year, Beijing Hyundai Co saw their sales grow 27.9% year on year to 329,000 vehicles.
