The Buick MPV is developed independently by the Pan-Asia Technical Automotive Center, the first joint venture research center in the Asia-Pacific area which was jointly built by GM and SAIC in 1997.
Five other models, including the new-generation Buick Lacrosse, Buick Regal, Cadillac SRX, Chevrolet Cruze WTCC (2009) and Chevrolet Camaro, will make their Asia debuts at the show.
The U.S. automaker said it will display its full car brands in Shanghai, including Buick, Chevrolet, Cadillac and Saab.
China is a relative bright spot for the company in terms of business growth at present. GM’s China sales rose 6% to 1.09 million vehicles last year, compared with an 11% decline in global sales.
