Laser Components have introduced pulsed laser diode modules as small as a matchbox. The two series—standard LS and customise LC—are packaged in a compact box. They’re available in 905 nm (3–220w) and 1550 nm (5–80w); pulse length is 4–150 ns for both, and operating current is 12vdc.
In related news, IDIL Fibres Optiques have launched a new Elite line of products which includes high-performance compact spectrometers for measurements of signals of very low intensity applications. APEX-785 is a spectrometer for Raman spectroscopy. It combines optical resolution, coupling efficiency and spectral range. It covers a range of 785–1120 nm, with a signal to noise ratio better than 450:1.
