Its Chinese joint ventures sold 151,000 vehicles in April, driven by demand for Buick models (up 63% to 38,000) and SAIC-GM-Wuling’s Sunshine minivan remained China’s best-selling vehicle, with 50,000 sold last month
GM has previously said it wants to double Chinese sales to over 2m vehicles in the next five years and launch more than 30 new or upgraded models during the period.
In 2008, GM sold about 1.09m vehicles in China, 6% higher than 2007, AFP said.
