BMW Group are hinting at plans for a new driving-orientated sports coupé with the Vision M Next, a low-slung, two-door plug-in hybrid concept that previews the brand’s design and technology roadmap. The Vision M Next follows BMW’s Vision iNext large SUV concept first shown last September.

The headlamps are positioned on the outer edges of the front end, higher up than the dual grilles, and feature what BMW are calling “laser wire” lighting technology: glass fibres coated with phosphor produce headlamps with a super-slim form.
The horizontally arranged steering wheel features two small displays. A curved glass display stretches around the steering wheel like a visor. Adding to that is an AR-HUD (augmented reality head-up display) in the windscreen. The information displayed to the driver is adapted to the vehicle’s speed; as it increases, the information centres increasingly on driving-related data and moves into the driver’s sight line.
