I just visited Yeolight in Beijing last week, and this week I’m at the Oledworks factory in Aachen; I will share my latest insights about OLED soon in the DVNewsletter.
OLED is becoming popular in China, and they’re moving downmarket out of the premium-priced segments. After last year’s Nissan N7 (C¥119,900 / ~€15,000; 100,000 vehicles sold with OLED rear lamps), OLEDs showed up on the Hongqi H9, Voyah Zhiying, Dongfeng Forthing S7, and BYD Denza.
Yeolight launched new products at the Beijing auto show. The Chery Fulwin T9L (C¥139,900 / ~€17,500) has 8 panels and 142 independent OLED segments. And the Nissan NX8 has 12 panels and 2,064 independent OLED segments. The OLED rear lamps are linked with the lit grille bumper option; there’s also another version of the NX8 rear lamp without OLEDs.
