Vishay have introduced their series of high-intensity white power SMT LEDs in the CLCC-2 flat ceramic package. They reportedly leverage InGaN/TAG on sapphire technology. Vishay says that the VLMW84 were designed to reduce costs in high-volume applications and they offer low thermal resistance of 25 K/W and high optical power from 5,6 cd to 14 cd.
They have a flat package with a low profile of 0,75 mm, and a package measuring 3.3 x 3.4 mm. The company claim the flat package allows additional current drive for a maximum light output while maintaining a high service life of up to 50 000 hours.
Vishay say that they are ideal for space-limited applications where thermal management is a key consideration.
Typical end products include automotive instrument panels and exterior lighting, such as brake lights and turn signals.
