A forum on Night-time Pedestrian fatality reduction with the role of the Low beam will be held April 7, 2009 at Orlando.
It considers the work being undertaken in the SAE, GTB and CIE Working Groups related to the low beam performance and its role in the reduction of night-time pedestrian fatalities. The SAE Pedestrian Visibility Taskforce has identified areas of potential low beam improvement and the joint GTB / CIE Technical Committee (TC4-45) has developed a standardised low beam performance assessment procedure.
Significantly, industry is now considering the adoption of the standardised assessment procedure and Christian Ziehl has kindly agreed to present the work carried out by Volkswagen to develop an in-house benchmarking and performance rating system based upon the CIE TC4-45 procedure.
The major part of the forum will be dedicated to the presentation of Christian Ziehl but there will be opportunity for an open discussion of the issues and the next steps to be implemented by the SAE Lighting Committee.
Geoff Draper will attend — he is chair of the SAE Pedestrian Visibility Task Force and the Joint GTB / CIE TC4-45 Working Group was recently elected as president of GTB (GROUPE DE TRAVAIL “BRUXELLES 1952”).
