Luminar Hire Uber Ex-Executive

Luminar, a lidar startup aiming to increase the accessibility of the technology, have recruited lidar veteran Brent Schwarz, who has experiences at Velodyne and established his own lidar company, Tyto. As his lidar startup was acquired by Otto, which was then bought by Uber, Schwarz had stayed in Uber before joining Luminar, who began mass-producing lidar units last April and have received funds from Volvo. Currently, Luminar have contracts with 16 automakers as well as Volvo’s and Toyota’s research institutes, and are courting other clients.
