Mondial: Four Takeaway Points in Lighting +8
Preview of DVN Mondial Report
There’s almost no information about lighting in the booths at the show—and the same in the newspapers and magazines.
Nevertheless, many new headlamps and rear lamps equip the new production and concept cars at the show. With the arrival of LEDs, the designers now have the possibility to present new styles and techniques. Concept cars like the BMW X2, Lexus UX, Mercedes EQ, Mitsubishi GT-PHEV, and Volkswagen EV caught our eyes with their eyes, as did production vehicles like the Audi Q5, Citroën C3, Hyundai i30, Kia Rio, Land Rover Discovery, Nissan Micra, Peugeot 3008 & 5008, Renault Alaskan and Škoda Kodiaq. And EVs, lots of EVs. Probably never before have there been so many firsts of electric cars and production-based e-studies as at this year’s Paris Motor Show.
We can summarise the lighting at the Mondial with four takeaway points:
- Weak communication on lighting in the press kits from car makers—a probable cause of paltry coverage of the subject in newspapers and magazines.
- The use of headlamps and rear lamps in the concept cars to accentuate the signature of the brand or to draw attention to design evolution
