Mentor FloEFD for Advanced Fluid Dynamics Simulation
Mentor Graphics, founded in 1981, provide a wide array of EDA (electronic design automation) and PLM (product lifecycle management) tools. Global headquarters is in the U.S. state of Oregon; European HQ in Munich, Germany, and there are 85 offices and R&D centres and around 6,000 employees. Revenue in 2016 was more than $1.28bn. Most development for Mentor’s mechanical, flow, and thermal analysis products happens in Europe. With the acquisition of Mentor Graphics at the end of March 2017, Siemens became the world’s leading supplier of industrial software.
Mentor’s activities are divided into six groups:
- IC Design and Emulation
- Embedded Software
- PCB Design
- System Design and Verification
- Valor PCB Manufacturing and Assemby
- Mechanical and Thermal Analysis with FloEFD simulation, which is mainly developed for engine, lighting, thermal, and electronics. FloEFD serves these six vertical sectors:
FloEFD simulation is used in electronics cooling, aerodynamics, condensation, ventilation, radiation, PCB modeling, and many other activities.
