Rainer Neumann was born in Frankfurt/Main in 1952.
He did his diploma and Ph.D. in Optics at the university of Frankfurt.
In 1984 he joined Bosch in Stuttgart , where he spent 13 years in Research and development of automotive lighting. In 1997 he became the global director of lighting development at Magneti Marelli in Turin (Italy). In 2000 he joined Visteon Deutschland as the Head of the European Lighting group.
He has published numerous articles, and holds more than 100 patents.
He is reviewer of the annual SAE Technical Congress in Detroit, scientific member of the biannual Vision Congress in Paris, and steering committee member of the biannual ISAL Symposium.
He is chairman of the GTB working group on front lighting.
Today he is the director of the global business development in automotive lighting for Visteon.
