Pr Khanh :The human relation is the most driving force
Professor Khanh is the President of the famous congress ISAL which was held last week for the 10th time in Darmstadt. DVN Editor in Chief Hector Fratty talked with him at the end of the congress. You’ll find more about this interview and the ISAL congress in the DVN report which will be published next month.
DVN : Congratulations for the success of ISAL 2013 congress. How many people attended in total and from Asia? Did you expect such a great number?
Pr Khanh : We have had internally an official number of 646 participants until the week-end before the congress had taken place. Over this mentioned week-end and the following Monday, the number climbed until 685-700 persons in total, without our internal organization team. We had 59 People from Asia and 36 from the USA and Latin America. We achieved a big growth compared to ISAL 2011.
DVN : Could you comment the history of ISAL since your arrival at TUD?
Pr Khanh : In ISAL 2007 we had 546 people and in 2009 about 450 participants.
– In 2007 the automotive industry had the introduction of the first LED-headlamps in Audi R8 and the Cadilac.
– In the time 2007-2009 we all had realized the AFS Technology like motorway light, City light, dynamic bending light
– In 2011 the new Xenon lamp 25 W has been introduced.
– In 2013 we have seen Matrix beam, Laser beam, the new indoor lighting with RGB-Color mixture and for me it was the low-beam LED-headlamp with 13-14 W which shall be the most valuable contribution to safety and energy saving worldwide.
We do not forget that far more than 90% of the cars worldwide are equipped with halogen tungsten lamp low beams with 124 W for both sides and with only about 350 lm-500 lm for each low beam.
LED low beam with 13-14 W and with a luminous flux of 500-650 lm for each low beam head lamp, we shall have the highest evolution, also in your thinking way, Mr. Fratty.
