The schools are the Institut d’Optique, a graduate school in optical science; ESTACA, a transport and mobility school, and the design school STRATE. They are joining forces on the Paris-Saclay Campus, France,to build research, development, and training capacity specific to ELS. The ELS chair will develop expertise at the highest international level, to bolster the competitivity of our industry in lighting and signaling. The industrial partners will contribute a €2m budget over the next three years to build an effective capacity for R&D in collaboration with the best research laboratories, to educate high-potential engineers and provide continuous education for personnel from industry. The industrial partners include Renault, PSA Peugeot-Citroën, Valeo, and Automotive Lighting.

They will pilot and steer graduate studies, continuing education, and research with the three academic partners. Professional associations such as Driving Vision News have also been very active in supporting this project.
By contributing € 15,000 annually for three years, any lighting industry may become an associate industrial member and benefit from:
– Direct access to the international students in the graduate program;
– Preferred access to continuing education in this field for employees;
– The R&D program for improved competitiveness;
– Development of synergies between industry and universities, and
– Enhanced visibility in the business world.
