Hector Fratty

Yandan Lin studied in the department of Illuminating Engineering & Light Sources of Shanghai’s Fudan University. After getting her bachelor’s degree in light and lighting, she entered the direct Master-PhD program and also meanwhile with great honour to get the DAAD scholarship from Germany, in the lighting laboratory of TU-Darmstadt, Germany. She got her doctorate degree of science in January 2005, majoring in physical electronics, with a research direction on human visual perception and visual performance affected by lighting.

Since then, she has worked in the department of Illuminating Engineering & Light Sources at Fudan University, firstly as a lecturer and in 2006 she was promoted to be an associate professor directing the research on human factors in lighting. She gives lectures to students on vision science, human factors in lighting, and colourimetry. She is also principal on some research projects, funded respectively by the National Nature Science Foundation of China, the Education Commission of Shanghai Government, the Shanghai Aircraft Design Insitute, and lighting industry‎. The projects that have been done by her, include the effect of headlamp lighting pattern on drivers detection; the effect of cockpit lighting on driving safety of airplanes; visual perception of comfort and glare, etc. Due to her excellent academic achievement and deep and active involvement in various professional organizations (e.g., CIE, CIES, IFAL, etc), she was promoted to full professor in early 2015 and also became the associate head of her department.
She is now the associate director of CIE Div4 (Lighting and Signaling for Transport) and the director of CIES Division for Lighting and Signaling for Transport. In general, her education background, her teaching and research experience and her academic position might have helped her to understand better about how to chair the IFAL 2015 Organisation Committee.
