Great Work, Clear Vision from Prof. Khanh at TU Darmstadt
By Hector Fratty, DVN President
I had the chance to talk recently with Professor Khanh and his colleagues Jonas Kobbert, Katharina Schneider, D. English, and D. Polin about their studies on older drivers, headlamp aim and the consequence of bad aiming, the US IIHS headlamp assessments, the effects and exigencies of headlamp washing systems, and more.
All these interesting topics will be presented in forthcoming technical congresses, particularly at the ISAL congress next September in Darmstadt.
Prof. Khanh kindly sat down with me for a DVN-exclusive interview, and we now present his vision and predictions:
DVN: How do you see ADB in the future?
Khanh: ADB will be used in Japan, Eastern Asia, America, and parts of Europe. In the most parts of all continents, I see the future more with LED-low and high beam with high efficiency, low power and payable prices.
DVN: How will it be implemented? Mechanical or digital?
Khanh: The ADB with digital elements like LED-pixel light have better reliability and shorter reaction time because no motor and mechanical parts must be used.
