Here we are, most of us, smoothly closing 2025. We’ll take time with our families and recover for a 2026 both promising and sure to be intense.
To close DVN’s 2025, we bring you a show-and-tell report of my visit with Changzhou Xingyu Automotive Lighting Systems Co., Ltd. in Changzhou city, 3 hours’ drive from Shanghai.For the past 32 years, Xingyu Co., Ltd. has grown to become one of China’s top lighting suppliers, reporting revenue of 13.25 billion yuan in 2024.
What I saw was impressive success grounded in the company’s very simple organisation, with all the skills at the same place: project management, design engineers, electronics R&D and manufacturing, tool design and manufacturing, assembly line, and decision makers – all in Changzhou.
It was a real pleasure to see again my former counterpart from when I was working at Renault and he at Nissan: my friend Nakagaki-san, with whom I spent a lot of time visiting suppliers, defining roadmaps, and (trying) to work on a common lamp specification.
