Last Shangaï DVN Interior & Cockpit workshop confirms that the cabin is turning into a true “third place”: a configurable mix of office, lounge and home cinema, where kinematic seats, lighting moods and cockpit architecture are as much about brand signature as comfort. Under heavy cost and CO₂ pressure, OEMs must deliver a safe UX (with a comeback of physical controls driven by Euro NCAP), more disciplined screen strategies, smart surfaces and addressable lighting networks, all seamlessly integrated in the software-defined vehicle. Low-carbon materials (flax fiber, recycled compounds) and high perceived-value finishes are becoming strategic, while the seat evolves into a full tech module (acoustics, comfort, safety, experience). Bottom line: the interior is no longer the “final touch” of a vehicle program but the main battlefield where design, electronics, materials and software need to be aligned from day one.
