Between now and 2018, Seat will be launching two to three new vehicles every year; they’re expected to build a version of the Volkswagen Up, and to put the Tribu SUV concept into production as the firm rapidly expand their product portfolio in a bid to double annual sales to 800,000 cars by 2018.
To do that, the company will enter:
- new countries: Mexico and South America, Russia, possibly China.
- new segments: D segment to compete with Laguna and Peugeot 407/408, UP version.
Seat’s president, Erich Schmidt, says the new Ibiza just launched in Spain marks the starting point of the company’s future.
It’s the first model off the new Volkswagen group AO platform, and Schmidt — late of Audi — says it brings a major improvement in quality, reliability, precision and perception.
For the first time, Seat are offering the Ibiza with cornering light and Bi-Xenon headlamps with dynamic bending light.
