C-Class sales rose to 261,500 units, up from 166,400 a year earlier. S-Class sales were virtually flat compared to a year ago at 85,500 units (2006: 85,900). SUV sales totalled 180,000 units, up from 170,000 in 2006.
Smart sales were 100,000 units in 2007, down from 112,000 in 2006. The largest market for the new Fortwo in 2007 was Germany with 31,000 units sold. The car goes on sale in the US this month.
Daimler chairman Dieter Zetsche said growth should be sustained in 2008 thanks in particular to the first full year of sales of the new Mercedes C-class and the addition of the station wagon, and the new Smart Fortwo.
