IAL congress started yesterday
Intelligent Automotive Lighting congress organized by IQPC started yesterday at Frankfurt. 80 people attended the conference.
After an introduction lecture of Alexander Von Hoffmann, presenting the main LED optical concepts, 6 interesting lectures were presented:
– Roy Bours project manager at TNO presented the HIS, Intelligent Headlight System, with the complex combination of sensors, electronics, controls, actuators and lighting systems.
He presented at the end of the lecture one example of an innovative HIS: “The Light Barrier Assist” system which projects a red bar on the road in front of vehicle to warm the driver for a possible collision.
– Thorsten Warwel, Ford Supervisor Global Core Exterior Lighting Engineering presented LED headlamps for B-car after showing Ford strategy sorted by car range and countries.
We understood that many things about LED headlamp are in development at Ford, but Thorsten did not want to give too much information on it.
Our guess: we should expect a LED headlamp in B segment in the 2012-2013.
DVN hopes more information in the next 2 months.
– Martin Royer at NXP Semiconductors presented the LED electronic drivers which will be more and more important in LED headlamp development.
He first explained what a light control module needs to provide (flexibility, integration, and system networking).
