US patent number 7278763 is not the first one to offer protection for your headlamp. It has been customary to fit anti-theft devices on headlamps in a number of countries as a standard precaution. Now with high-end versions costing premium the threat of having your favourite Bi-Xenon or AFS headlamps nicked overnight has gone up drastically. Organised crime seems to target vehicles in Germany now for airbags, high-end radios and Xenon headlamps.
