The Beijing auto show is becoming one of the clearest indicators of where the global automotive industry is heading. More than a regional event, it is a strategic stage where new trends are showcased: fast electrification, software control, Chinese premium ambitions, and fast execution speed. Especially fast execusion speed; Beijing has become a showcase speedy development and adoption.

The British automotive industry offers a relevant counterpoint; it moves with less speed, but with strong symbolic capital: design, luxury, engineering, and performance all in harmony. The UK has iconic brands, premium expertise, and a long-established automotive culture. Of course, laurels mustn’t be rested on; British industry has to live with the rest of us in an automotive reality defined by batteries, software, and technological supremacy.
Asian acceleration and British resilience: two cultures on two timelines, with a common challenge: remaining desirable in the automotive world.
In the coming days, we will publish our full Beijing report by Guang Yang for DVN, with a deeper reading of the key trends presented in today’s newsletter. Watch for it!
As always, we’re listening; feel free to drop Emilie Bonnet or Laurent Sérézat a line.
Take care,
