The Automotive Hall was packed again at CES and we saw AI technology applied to more than just autonomous driving. DVN published a separate report on the CES highlights that discuss the AI Defined Vehicle.
We expect to see more robotaxi operators offering commercial service in the US market in 2026, including Lucid/Nuro/Uber, Uber/AV Ride, VW and significant expansion of services from Waymo, Zoox and Tesla. This technology is also expected to filter down to consumer L3 offerings from auto OEMs as we move further into the second half of the decade, although, one of the early adopters, Mercedes-Benz just put a pause on their L3 offering. Mercedes will no longer offer Drive Pilot on the facelift of the S-Class and EQS this year, rather focusing on the MB Drive Assist Pro L2++ systems. In China however, L3 projects continue to move forward.
The agenda for our next Detroit workshop in March 2026 on AEB, L2++ and robotaxi/robotruck technologies is out and If you are interested to exhibit please contact me.
